Susanna Kelly was the daughter of Edmond Kelly, son of John Kelly of Scregg, Co. Roscommon.  Although the Kellys were originally from Scregg, they eventually settled in Churchborough, yet there is no such town mentioned in surviving records.  However, the opening lines of the lyric indicate that Churchborough must have been in the townland of Athlone in the Irish midlands.
