Lady Gethin / Mrs Maxwell by Turlough Carolan; arr. for guitar by John Feeley.

1. Lady Gethin

2. MrsMaxwell by Turlough Carolan; arr. for guitar by John Feeley. Notation + Tab; with fingering.

Lady Gethin, although not attributed to Carolan, is reminiscent of him in its style.  It originates in the Connacht area, where Carolan  spent much time.  Lady Gethin was most likely the wife of Richard Gethin, the High Sheriff of Sligo, a town Carolan frequented.

Mrs. Maxwell was the wife of John Maxwell of Farnham, Co. Cavan, a Member of Parliament (MP) for the area; Maxwell was also the High Sheriff of the county in 1739. They were patrons of Carolan, who composed a number of melodies for Mrs. Maxwell.
